Framed sliding doors: the Riex VR30/VR31 system explained in 2026

A sliding door can be a plain board on two wheels, or an assembly where the panel is held in an aluminium frame, with a handle profile running the full height and damping at both ends. The second option costs more and looks entirely different. The "Sliding system" collection now carries the complete Riex VR30/VR31 system — 34 components, all in matt black. Here is how they fit together.

What a "framed sliding door" means

In a framed system the edge of the panel is not left exposed: it sits inside an aluminium profile that surrounds the door. The practical difference is not only aesthetic:

• Rigidity. The frame keeps the panel straight over its full height. At 250 cm an unframed panel can bow; a framed one does not.
• Protected edge. The bottom edge of a sliding door is the most exposed one — to vacuums, mops and knocks. In a frame, it is covered.
• Integrated handle. The side profile is the handle, over the full height. You no longer need a separate part and you can open the door at any height.
• Thin panels. The frame allows 10 mm panels — glass, mirror, thin painted MDF — which would not be rigid enough on their own.

VR30 or VR31: panel thickness decides

The system has two branches, and the choice comes down to a single criterion — panel thickness:

• VR30 works with 18 mm panels: melamine board, painted MDF, veneered panels. It is the option for ordinary wardrobes and walk-ins, where the door is opaque.
• VR31 works with 10 mm panels: glass, mirror, thin decorative panels. It is the option for mirrored doors and visually lighter compositions.

Many components are shared — the tracks, the dampers, the positioners, the 10/18 mm frame wheels — and carry both codes, VR30/VR31, in their name. What differs are the handle profiles and the wheel plates dedicated to 18 mm.

The components, one by one

Tracks

All tracks come in 2900 mm lengths and are cut to the width of your opening:

• Top track — 287.83 lei. The basic version.
• Top track with T-slot — 304.70 lei. The slot lets you fix accessories with M4 nuts (3.75 lei each) anywhere along its length, with no extra drilling. This is the one to choose if you want central dampers or later adjustments.
• Bottom track — 157.16 lei, with a separate cover at 54.29 lei. The cover closes the channel and keeps dust and small objects from jamming the wheels — a detail that decides how well the door still runs two years on.
• T profile 2900 mm — 66.42 lei, completing the structure.

Wheels

Sold in pairs, one set at the top and one at the bottom for each door:

• Top wheel plate 18 mm, symmetric — 56.21 lei; asymmetric — 57.17 lei.
• Bottom wheel plate 18 mm — 75.66 lei.
• Top frame wheels 10/18 mm, symmetric or asymmetric — 60.77 lei per pair.
• Bottom frame wheels 10/18 mm — 74.46 lei per pair.

Symmetric or asymmetric depends on how the doors overlap: for two doors meeting in the middle choose symmetric; for three-door compositions or uneven overlaps, asymmetric. Positioners — 17.78 lei at the top and 5.89 lei at the bottom — set the stopping point, so the door always closes in the same place.

Dampers

This is the biggest difference between a good door and an ordinary one. The system has two types, sized by door weight:

• Side dampers — 10 kg and 50 kg at 104.18 lei, 15 kg at 105.69 lei, 30 kg at 106.46 lei. They mount at the end of the run and take over the door in the last few centimetres.
• Central dampers — 15 and 30 kg at 298.43 lei, 50 kg at 278.90 lei. They work in the middle zone, where the doors meet.

Each damper needs an activator (22.94–29.18 lei, depending on frame type) and a bracket — 20.66 lei for the side type, 17.17 lei for the central one. Pick a weight rating above the real weight of the door, never below: a 15 kg damper on a 25 kg door will not stop it, and you will simply wear it out.

Handle profiles

They are the most visible part and give the door its character:

• For 18 mm panels (VR30): P01 2700 mm — 164.77 lei; P03 2500 mm — 141.05 lei; P11 frame 2700 mm — 173.82 lei; P12 frame 2700 mm — 160.36 lei.
• For 10 mm panels (VR31): P21 2700 mm — 168.42 lei; P22 2700 mm — 179.12 lei.

The 2500 and 2700 mm lengths cover ordinary wardrobe heights; the profile is cut to your door height. When you need a vertical split inside the same door — a mirror band between two board areas, for instance — you use the H divider profile with screw, 2900 mm, 161.68 lei.

Indicative cost

For a wardrobe with two 18 mm doors, the minimum list looks like this: one top track with T-slot, one bottom track with its cover, two pairs of top wheels, two pairs of bottom wheels, two P01 handle profiles and the two positioners. Added up at the prices above, the hardware starts at roughly 1,130 lei — excluding panels, dampers and installation.

Dampers add between 130 and 350 lei per door, depending on type and weight. It is the one line where saving money does not pay: sliding doors are used several times a day for years, and a door that slams tires the whole system.

Sliding or hinged?

Sliding doors need no swing space in front of the wardrobe — their decisive advantage in a narrow bedroom or a hallway. In exchange, you only ever see half the interior at a time and you lose a few centimetres of depth to the mechanism.
