Light in the wardrobe with zero cables: the LED clothes rail with motion sensor

We have already written at length about integrated LED lighting in wardrobes: LED strips mounted under shelves, in aluminium channels, with a power supply planned from the design stage. It is the complete solution — but it needs cables, a socket nearby and, ideally, furniture designed for it from the start. What about the wardrobe you already own, though? Or if you rent and cannot run cables? For exactly these situations there is a much simpler answer: a clothes rail with built-in LED, motion sensor and battery power.

How the Elite LED sensor rail works

At first glance it is an ordinary clothes rail with an anthracite finish. The difference: an LED light source is integrated into the rail profile, pointing down at the clothes, and a motion sensor switches it on automatically when you open the wardrobe door and off again after you close it. There is no switch to hunt for in the dark and no cable to run:

• Battery powered — the rail is fully autonomous; you mount it and you are done — no socket, no transformer, no electrician.
• Motion sensor — the light comes on exactly when you need it and switches itself off, so the battery is not drained pointlessly.
• Warm or cool light — pick the tone that shows your clothes' colours correctly; cool light is more colour-accurate, warm light is gentler in the morning.
• Mounting hardware included — the set comes with the side flanges; the rail mounts like any classic clothes rail.

Sizes made for Téchne wardrobes

The Elite LED rail comes in three lengths — 76.4 cm, 86.4 cm and 96.4 cm — matching the usual interior compartment widths of wardrobes and walk-ins configured at Téchne. In practice, if you have a wardrobe from us, there is a rail that fits your hanging compartment exactly, with no adaptation. Why light inside the wardrobe matters

It seems like a luxury until you have it. The hanging compartment is, by its nature, a deep and shaded zone: your own body blocks the room light exactly when you look inside. You know the result — the navy t-shirt mistaken for the black one, in a morning rush. A light source placed right above the clothes, pointing down, eliminates the problem entirely: you see colours correctly and find what you need instantly, without switching on the main bedroom light at 6:30 am while the rest of the house is asleep.

Battery rail or wired LED strip?

Both solutions exist in the Téchne shop, and the choice depends on your situation:

• Choose the battery sensor rail if you want light in an existing wardrobe, you rent, you have no socket near the wardrobe, or you simply want the zero-hassle option. It mounts in minutes and moves house with you.
• Choose a wired LED strip if you are at the design stage of new furniture and want lighting in several zones — under each shelf, vertically, in drawers. The collection includes the Riex EL41 strips (12 V, 6 W/m, 60 LEDs/m, warm or neutral white, 5 m roll, around 82 RON) and Riex EL43 (12 W/m, 120 LEDs/m, for denser light without visible dots, around 94 RON). The two can also be combined: a wired LED strip in the big bedroom walk-in configured from scratch, and battery rails in the hallway or guest-room wardrobe, where a full installation is not worth it.

Ideas for using it

• The master bedroom wardrobe — one rail in each hanging compartment; each of you sees your own side of the wardrobe without turning on the room light.
• The child's wardrobe — a light that switches itself on when the door opens turns the wardrobe from a “dark zone” into something almost magical; and pyjama hunts no longer require the big light.
• The entrance hallway — in a hallway wardrobe, where there is rarely a socket nearby, the battery rail is practically the only lighting solution without construction work.
• The guest room or a rented studio — a visible upgrade with zero permanent changes.
