How much does it cost to furnish a complete bedroom with custom furniture?

The bedroom is the room where we spend a third of our lives, yet when it comes to furniture, many people invest only in the bed and mattress, leaving the rest of the space unorganized. A fully furnished bedroom with custom pieces transforms the room into a functional, aesthetic space perfectly adapted to your daily routine. What furniture pieces make up a complete bedroom?

A fully furnished bedroom includes the following pieces (apart from the bed and mattress, which are not part of Techne custom furniture):

• Wardrobe or closet — the main piece, covering 50-60% of the total bedroom furniture budget. This is where clothes, linens and accessories are stored.
• 2 nightstands — one on each side of the bed. Can be small floor-standing dressers or wall-mounted cabinets.
• TV sideboard — not all bedrooms have a television, but those that do benefit from a suspended or floor-standing sideboard with storage for remotes, books and personal items.
• Wall-mounted cabinets — above the TV sideboard or above the bed, for additional storage or decorative effect.

Basic budget: 5,000 - 8,000 RON (wardrobe only)

If the budget is limited, focus on the piece that makes the biggest difference: the wardrobe. A quality custom wardrobe replaces a standard cabinet and completely transforms space organization.

At this budget level, you get:

• Wardrobe 200-250 cm wide, 240 cm tall, 60 cm deep
• Carcass and fronts in melamine chipboard (white, oak, walnut or other available decors)
• 4-5 columns with mixed compartments: clothing rails (long zone + short zone), shelves, 2-4 internal drawers
• Hinged or sliding doors with push-to-open system or simple handles

Example: 220x240x60 cm wardrobe, white chipboard, 4 columns, 2 clothing rails, 6 shelves, 3 internal drawers, hinged doors — approximately 5,500-7,000 RON.

Mid-range budget: 8,000 - 15,000 RON (wardrobe + sideboard)

With this budget, you add a second important piece — usually a suspended TV sideboard or sideboard with integrated nightstands.

• Wardrobe (250 cm, chipboard + MDF fronts): 5,500-8,000 RON
• Suspended TV sideboard (140-180 cm wide, 35-45 cm deep): 2,000-4,000 RON
• or 2 suspended nightstands (40-50 cm wide each): 1,500-2,500 RON the pair

At this level, it is worth investing in painted MDF fronts at least on the most visible piece (usually the TV sideboard, which is at eye level). Chipboard carcass and MDF fronts offer an excellent value-for-money ratio.

A smart strategy is to choose the same MDF color for the wardrobe fronts and the sideboard — it creates visual coherence and a designer furniture look, even if carcass materials differ.

Complete budget: 15,000 - 25,000 RON (full bedroom)

The premium budget covers all bedroom pieces, aesthetically coordinated:

• Wardrobe with painted MDF or ribbed MDF doors (250-300 cm): 7,000-12,000 RON
• Suspended TV sideboard with open and closed compartments: 2,500-4,500 RON
• 2 wall-mounted cabinets above TV sideboard: 1,500-3,000 RON
• 2 suspended nightstands with drawers: 2,000-3,500 RON the pair
• Wall-mounted cabinet above bed (optional, 200-250 cm wide): 1,500-2,500 RON

At this level, all pieces are coordinated: same MDF color, same Hafele hardware, same front style. The result is a bedroom that looks professionally designed, but at a significantly lower price than imported luxury furniture.

The wardrobe: 50-60% of the bedroom budget

Regardless of total budget, the wardrobe will always be the most expensive piece. The reasons are straightforward:

• Material volume — a 250x240x60 cm wardrobe uses approximately 15 sqm of chipboard, compared to 2 sqm for a nightstand
• Complex hardware — hinges (6-10 pieces), drawers with runners (2-6 pieces), clothing rails, possible sliding door systems
• Interior accessories — drawers, organizers and trouser racks add 500-2,000 RON to the price

That is why our advice is: invest in the wardrobe first. A quality wardrobe lasts 15-20 years and is the piece you use daily. Nightstands and the sideboard can be added later as budget allows.

Configuration tips per piece

Wardrobe
